Love Jou
Grow closer – one question at a time. The private place for two.
Overview
Love Jou is a bilingual web app for couples: a psychologically grounded question every day, shared chapters for memories and photos, and twelve areas of life for what the two of them are aiming at. No advice column, no community – visible only to the two people it belongs to.
Challenge
The market is full of apps that manufacture closeness through points, streaks and groups. That was exactly what we did not want to build. The task was to turn findings from couples research into a product that works without competition and without an audience – and that people are willing to trust with their own memories.
Solution
The core is a rule rather than a feature: both partners answer the same question separately, and the other’s answer only becomes visible once both have written. That way nobody adapts to the other. On top of that: chapters instead of a chat log, twelve areas of life each with the next small step, and four fixed principles from couples research built into the flow. German and English, with accounts for both partners, hosted on our own server in Germany. AI-generated imagery is labelled as such (Art. 50 of the EU AI Act).
Result
An app that deliberately stays small: no social network, no reach mechanics, no outside view of what two people choose to keep.
